There is a gap or space between stimulus and response,
and the key to both our growth and happiness is how we use that space. -Stephen Covey

Dr. Bates, of Graham Psychological Associates, provides individual, couples, and family therapy, along with complete psychological evaluations for assistance with differential diagnoses and treatment planning in order to answer specific referral questions. Psychological evaluations can be helpful for numerous reasons, including, but not limited to, diagnosing disorders such as ADHD/ADD, bipolar, learning problems, depression, anxiety, and personality disorders. Evaluations can also focus on memory related issues to assess for functional impairment or a lack thereof. Psychological evaluations are always tailored for your specific needs.

Meet Dr. Brandon Bates
Brandon Bates, Psy.D. is a clinical psychologist licensed in Texas. He and his family moved to Graham in 2006 to raise their children and be a part of a community he and his wife, Kerri, believe in. Being a native of Graham, he is excited about being able to give back to the community that gave so much to him. Dr. Bates graduated from Tarleton State University in 1998 with his Bachelor’s degree and from Forest Institute of Professional Psychology in 2002 with a Doctorate of Psychology. His internship and residency training led him to Porterville, California as well as South Texas. He then moved to Oklahoma where he was the Mental Health Authority at a medium security prison for three years before going into private practice in Graham in 2006.

Dr. Bates is an active member on the Board of Directors for Virginia’s House and the Graham Chamber of Commerce. He also enjoys coaching youth sports, teaches children and adult Sunday school classes, and is an active member of the First United Methodist Church. Dr. Bates also has developed a passion for mission work and traveled to Haiti following the 2009 hurricane to provide trauma assistance.

Outside of work and spending time with his family, Dr. Bates is an avid outdoorsman, and will jokingly try and lobby for holding “therapy sessions” in the deer stand. On a serious note, he is passionate about his work as well, as anyone who meets with him will see. Dr. Bates enjoys working with a variety of individuals through a cognitive-behavioral perspective to adapt more rational thinking patterns, improve coping skills, and decrease symptomology.
